स्वानों को मिलता दूध, वस्त्र भूखे बालक अकुलाते हैं। माँ की हड्डी से चिपक, ठिठुर जाड़ों की रात बिताते हैं। युवती के लज्जा-वसन बेच, जब ब्याज चुकाए जाते हैं, मालिक जब भूखों पर लाठी की फसल उगाते हैं। दिल्ली, कलकत्ता और बम्बई, इन सभी शहरों की गलियों में, भूख और गरीबी का नृत्य होता है इन सभी गलियों में। पूँजीवाद की यह बर्बरता, कब तक सह पाएगा इंसान? उठो, जागो, अब समय है, बदलने को यह संसार।

Dogs get milk and clothes, while hungry children cry. Clinging to mother's bones, they shiver through winter nights. When young women's modest clothes are sold to pay off debts, And landlords raise a crop of lathis on the hungry.
