Composed by नागार्जुन

English Translation

On the pure white mountain peaks, I have seen the clouds gather. Like tiny pearls, Its cool, icy droplets, On those golden lotuses Of Mansarovar, I have seen them fall. On the high shoulders of the Himalayas, There are many small and large lakes; In their dark blue waters, Coming from the plains, Agitated by the summer's humidity, Bearing the bitter-sweet pangs of separation, I have seen the Chatak bird swim, I have seen the clouds gather.

AI Echo (English)

Immersed in serene silence, That wondrous sight I have seen. When the sun's rays touch, A golden glow scatters. In every particle, life's pulsation, In every drop, a deep call. From some distant, secluded corner, The rustling of the wind arrives. As if narrating a tale, Coming from time immemorial. This eternal play of beauty, Leaves the heart emotional. Clouds come and go, Only the feeling remains.

Literary & Historical Context

(Badal ko Ghirte Dekha Hai) is one of the most celebrated poems by the progressive Hindi poet Nagarjun, renowned for its vivid imagery and deep connection to nature. Written in a simple yet profound style, the poem paints an enchanting picture of the Himalayas, particularly the mythical Mansarovar lake, observing the gathering clouds, the delicate dew drops on golden lotuses, and the longing of the Chatak bird. It transcends mere description, evoking a sense of ancient mystery, natural grandeur, and the timeless cycle of life and separation. Nagarjun, a prominent figure of the progressive literary movement, often used nature as a canvas to reflect on human emotions, social realities, and spiritual quests. This poem stands as a testament to his mastery in crafting evocative landscapes that resonate with universal feelings, making it a cornerstone of 20th-century Hindi poetry for its lyrical beauty and philosophical depth.
