वर दे, वीणावादिनि वर दे! प्रिय स्वतंत्र-रव अमृत-मंत्र नव भारत में भर दे! काट अंध-उर के बंधन-स्तर बहा जननि ज्योतिर्मय निर्झर; कलुष-भेद-तम हर प्रकाश भर जग मग जग कर दे! नव गति, नव लय, ताल-छंद नव नवल कंठ, नव जलद-मंद-रव नव नभ के नव विहग-वृंद को, नव पर, नव स्वर दे! वर दे, वीणावादिनि वर दे!

Grant us, O Veena-playing Goddess, a boon! Fill India with the beloved sound of freedom, A new immortal mantra! Cut through the layers of bondage in ignorant hearts, Flow, Mother, a radiant stream of light; Remove defilement, discrimination, darkness, fill with illumination, Make the world sparkle and glow! New rhythm, new cadence, new meter and rhyme, New voice, new gentle thunder-like sound (of clouds), To the new flocks of birds in the new sky, Grant new wings, new melodies!
