आज बचपन का कोमल गात, जरा का पीला पत्ता! दो दिन का है लघु संसार, आज सुख कल दुख, यह जग का नियम। परिवर्तन का अमर विधान, इस विश्व का चिर रहस्य। अविराम चलता है यह कालचक्र, नित्य नूतन, नित्य पुरातन। आज फूल कल धूल, आज जीवन कल मरण। हे परिवर्तन! तेरा ही तो है यह साम्राज्य, तू ही है जीवन, तू ही मृत्यु, तू ही आज।

English Translation

Today, childhood's tender form, Tomorrow, old age's yellowed leaf! Two days' brief is this small world, Today joy, tomorrow sorrow, This is the world's law. Change's immortal decree, The eternal mystery of this universe. Ceaselessly rolls this wheel of time, Ever new, ever ancient. Today a flower, tomorrow dust, Today life, tomorrow death. Oh Change! Thine alone is this empire, Thou art life, thou art death, thou art today.
