दिवसावसान का समय मेघमय आसमान से उतर रही है वह संध्या सुन्दरी परी-सी धीरे धीरे तिमिरांचल में चंचलता का नहीं कहीं आभास मधुर मधुर हैं दोनों उसके अधर किन्तु नहीं है उनमें वह हास विलास जो भर देता है हृदय में अनुराग-पराग एक अमूर्त कविता सी वह चुपचाप, शांत और गंभीर किसी नदी की निर्मल धारा सी उतरती है वह धरा पर तारिकाओं के दीपक जलाती हुई।

Time of day's end, From the cloud-filled sky descends That evening beauty, like a fairy, slowly, slowly. In her veil of darkness, there is no trace of playfulness, Sweet, sweet are both her lips, But in them there is no joy or delight That fills the heart with passion and pollen.
